This was the first of our larger continuo organs, the
design of which was subsequently developed for instruments at Westminster
Abbey and St Paul's Cathedral, London. The organ incorporates two ranks of
eighteenth century pipework by John Avery in the Principal and Flute
ranks. The instrument can transpose to play at either A415 or A440 pitches.
The organ was inaugurated at the 1990 Peterborough Festival when a set of pieces commissioned for the organ, written by John Joubert, received their first performance by the late Nicholas Danby. The stoplist: Manual: Stopped Diapason 8 Principal 4 Flute 4 Fifteenth 2 Larigot 1 1/3 |
