De kerk van Saint James the Greater in Vancouver (Washington) USA, werd in 1885 tot kathedraal verheven van het bisdom Nesqually. In 1889 brandde het gebouw geheel af, maar werd herbouwd volgens het originele bestek. In 1907 werd een nieuwe kathedraal gewijd in Seattle, en werd de kerk in Vancouver weer een parochiekerk. In 2013 werd de kerk verheven tot Proto-kathedraal.
Wicks Organ Company bouwde in 1912-1913 opus 74. Een nieuw sleepladen-orgel met 2 manualen, 15 stemmen, vrij pedaal, gedecoreerde frontpijpen en elektrische tractuur voor de kathedraal. Balcom & Vaughan bouwde het instrument in 1954 om. In 2019-2020 bouwde Puget Sound Pipe Organs het instrument om en breidde het uit tot 46 (31) stemmen, 2 manualen en een vrij pedaal. Het pedaalklavier is radiaal concaaf.
