Vanaf januari 1951 bouwde Aeolian-Skinner een nieuw orgel met elektrische tractuur, 4 manualen en radiaal concaaf pedaal, voor de Mother Church of Christ, Scientist in Boston. Het instrument werd door Lawrence Phelps ontworpen. In september 1952 werd het in gebruik genomen. Enkele registers werden uit het oude orgel van de kerk overgenomen, een werk van Hook & Hastings uit 1906 (opus 2107), dat uitgebreid is in 1929.
