Na de dood van Thomas Coats hebben zijn nabestaanden een kerk laten bouwen, ter nagedachtenis aan de in 1883 overleden industrieel. Het kerkgebouw werd gebouwd op een plaats op het hoogste punt van zijn woonplaats Paisley (Strathclyde) UK. De door Hippolyte Blanc ontworpen kerk is in 1894 ingewijd. In 1890 bouwde de firma Hill & Son een pneumatisch kegelladen-orgel met 50 stemmen, 4 manualen en een vrij pedaal voor de kerk. Het is nooit veranderd. De tractuur is in 1982 bij een revisie door de firma Hill, Norman & Beard elektro-pneumatisch gemaakt.
