Aristide Cavaillé-Coll bouwde in 1872 een nieuw orgel voor de Paisley Abbey in Paisley (Strathclyde) UK. De bouw van het orgel werd bekostigd door Thomas Coats. Robert Lorimer heeft de orgelkas ontworpen. Het instrument is in 1902 verplaatst en vergroot door Norman & Beard. In 1928 heeft de firma Hill, Norman & Beard het orgel omgebouwd. J.W. Walker & Sons hebben het oorspronkelijke orgel gedeeltelijk gereconstrueerd, en hebben het in 1968 uitgebreid. Ralph Downes was adviseur bij deze werkzaamheden. Het orgel werd op 15 december 1968 weer in gebruik genomen met een concert door George McPhee, organist van de abdij.
De firma Harrison & Harrison voerden in 2009 een restauratie uit waarbij op het pedaal een Contre Bombarde 32′ is geplaatst en werden op Great en Pedal tremulanten geplaatst. Het elektro-pneumatische sleepladen-orgel heeft 66 (64) stemmen, 4 manualen en een vrij pedaal.
